Once a Year Post?!

My plan had been to cancel this site for 2026… but forgot before it renewed πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
Without further ado my annual post.

Hello 2026, can I get a refund?

I’m kidding. Mostly.
While there are definitely challenges to living in the US of A these days, I’m not going down the political path. At least not in my annual post.

A new year

What does that even mean? Why have we attached so much pressure to a date? To an entire year? Especially after a generally joyful, yet busy, stressful, painful other date?!

What follows is my interpretation. Read it or don’t.

Why put so much pressure at the beginning of a 365-day span? The short, dark days of winter aren’t meant to offer change and glory β€” they’re meant for rest and reflection. Why not focus on each moment as it comes? Just think about it β€” I can break down my day into moments. Every moment is an opportunity to access that same shiny, β€œnew me” glow β€” just in bite-size pieces. Or maybe a moment of rest or just less.

I have the choice of what I want to do (or not) in that moment and the next and the next and so on. You get the idea.

In the spirit of looking back and recalling my highs and lows for a previous 365 days or 31,536,000 seconds I learned:

I learned that if something or someplace is called the “world’s best” it most definitely is not. Any future encounters with that moniker will cause me to instantly abandon my expectations. Same goes with anything bragging about being “the easiest” and don’t get me started on the “world’s easiest”!

I learned that I have so much wisdom and knowledge β€” and that I need, no, IΒ must, trust it and take the appropriate actions or non-actions as the case may be.

I learned (and practice daily) that it truly is never too late to do or be the thing. AKA don’t wait for the “perfect time” because there is no such thing β€” except that ever-present moment that is NOW πŸ˜‰.

I learned that rest days are well and truly beneficial and do not sabotage my health and fitness but allow me to be stronger and focused.

I learned that naps don’t = laziness.

I learned less really is more.

No refund needed. I’ll keep this year – one moment at a time.
