Purpose and Practice

For the past 24 months I’ve been an avid reader, listener and learner trying to break the code of how do I follow-through and actually reach the goals I’ve set for myself?

One thing I’ve learned about myself is that I can set goals for myself all day long but without the right structure, support and practice I’m going to keep setting myself up to not quite make them a reality — I have to put the work in to get where I want to go and be who I want to be.

One standout resource for me is Jonathan Field’s Good Life Project podcast and in particular, his episode “To Succeed at Anything Do This” . The tools he laid out are helping me to “bring to life what I want to actually happen”. His 8P’s made sense to me (I encourage you to listen to his podcast if you want to know what they are and how to make them work for you) and I’m using this model to keep me focused, moving forward and finally allowing myself to succeed.

I’ve got my plan written out, I’m clear on my purpose, I’m committed to practice every day and I’m prepared for the many obstacles I will face. I’m ready to celebrate my progress – the wins and failures. I have people that support me in various ways and will keep pushing and inspiring me and maybe most importantly I believe that I will reach my goals.

Join me on my goal achieving journey this year and let me know what goals you’ve set and how you are staying accountable.
